Emergency

As part of my new but not so new role, I got a new badge. It provides some codes sort of like the terrorist alert watch. Just in case you're ever in a hospital and the alarms start blaring listen for the following:

Code Alpha: Hospital Emergency
Code Bravo: Utilities Emergency
Code Blue: Medical Emergency
Code Gold: Elopement
Code Gray: Threatening Person
Code Green: IT Downtime
Code Orange: HazMat Incident
Code Pink: Infant Abduction
Code Purple: Child Abduction
Code Red: Fire
Code Silver: Active Shooter
Code Triage: Mass Casualties
Code Yellow: Bomb Threat
Code Zebra: Infection Disease

Maybe I could have learned the same from watching a season of Gray's Anatomy.

New Digs

In theory I moved to a new office this week. I've got a new computer and all new office furniture. I've got a new roommate. I've got a huge window with a view of a church steeple next door.

Still, we're in that funny transition phase. I can't reach my old files or my old emails. I'm working at a third of my actual capacity as I search for work-arounds. I miss being able to walk or bike around campus to get to my meetings or find lunch.

Also the new commute isn't as nice. I don't have to pay to park on campus anymore, but I also don't have a train schedule that makes it possible to get to and from work easily.

It's a move. I'm sad to leave the old place. I'm hopeful for the transition.
